About me
I am a Northerner who lives in London- secretly Northern, apparently, until I out myself by talking about a 'bath', 'glass' or 'giraffe' (don't ask). Working in various areas, from film and photography to a stint at the Apple Store, has given me skills that I use to inform and advance my designs. As a multi-disciplinary designer and copywriter with over 3 years of industry experience, I'm enjoying being my own boss. My work ranges from branding projects, packaging design, art direction, event design, social media campaigns, email building and printed communications.
Projects
  • Brand activation with Movember
Brand activation with MovemberThe Shave Station, a pop-up barbershop offering free wet shaves to Movember participants. All proceeds went to the charity.
  • Brand that Bike Hub
Brand that Bike HubOver a year, I designed and implemented the Bike Hub identity across modern, purpose-built and Listed Building sites.
  • Valentine's Day social media event
Valentine's Day social media eventVirgin Trains brand activity on social media- a Lucha Libre match for Valentine's Day- whether you love it or hate it, you vote and you decide. We enlisted the help of an amazing agency, Catsnake, to write the script and film the choose-your-own-ending videos for customers to vote upon.
  • Onboard packaging design
Onboard packaging designA new look and feel for the Virgin Trains onboard packaging with food-based puns (a little surprise element for that true Virgin touch). The product range covered sandwich skillets, hot pots, hot and cold subs, breakfast pots and a kids' range.
  • Cinemagraph
CinemagraphCinemagraphs are "still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs". I organised and art-directed a day's shoot to create a food-based and non food-based cinemagraph for use on a website. Maintaining frequent open communication was essential to balancing the needs and expectations of the briefing department with the digital restrictions (mainly that of quality vs loading time).
  • Wes Anderson nerd
Wes Anderson nerdWhat's a film nerd to do? Why, play-around-with-reducing-visual-elements-of-a-film-to-the-very-basics-and-still-be-recognisable, of course! With the release of 'Isle of Dogs', it might be time to work on another one. Pop back and check sometime...

    Brand Designer (middleweight)Virgin Trains
     - London, United KingdomFull Time
few intense years in the Virgin Trains Brand and Design Team gave me a varied experience in print and digital design and the role of brand guardian. As a Middleweight Brand Designer, I was required to juggle day-to-day design work and copywriting across platforms (real and digital) along with delivering large scale projects, from branding multiple Bike Hubs, creating onboard packaging or throwing a party. It was the epitome of work hard, play hard and have a sense of humour.
