Music manager | Founder | Storyteller
Not all of us are destined for cookie cutter careers. I, for example, spent 15 happy years thriving in the education sector, only to embark on a dramatic career change into music management. When opportunity meets purpose, you have to take a risk.
I founded Luna Legacy in 2019. Personal circumstance forced me to reassess how I was investing my energies. A chance encounter on the streets of Brooklyn with a group of young rappers cemented my decision; “why, when you have all these skills, are you not pursuing your passion for music?”
I never take for granted the opportunities afforded to me in senior roles at institutions like the London School of Economics and the University of London. I was able to qualify as a Chartered Secretary, with expertise in corporate governance, strategy and finances. I obtained a CMI Diploma in Management, which cemented my passion to lead and develop teams, and a PRINCE2 qualification, directing major institutional projects and business change. All these skills have been directly transferrable to my role as CEO of my own music company. I had been building the foundations to become an entrepreneur for over a decade.
However, what was missing was the realisation that I am and always have been a creative. I flunked art at school and was labelled left-brained. But there had been a quiet internal resistance all along: my propensity to lead on communications, brand strategy and PR within roles; my side hustle writing for and developing a community magazine; my passion for photography and videography… I had been weaving stories all along.
I was ready to burn the blueprint. So when rapper KdotMelody asked me to manage him, I accepted without hesitation. The professional skills I had developed and my knowledge of the music industry seamlessly integrated with my creativity and passions. Since then, Luna Legacy’s roster has grown to four artists in London and NYC, and our team has expanded to 11. We are proud to represent KdotMelody, Nutty P, nikmoody, and FELA.Mi.
For those we represent, we are a full service artist support company, empowering exceptional artists toward sustainable careers. We believe in the power of creatives to affect positive change in the world and also offer a broad range of platforms across our events series, magazine, YouTube channel, and playlists to create spaces through which our community can discover fresh sounds, network together and build their own legacy. It's an added bonus that my career empowers me to do so as well.
