I was born (and raised in his formative years) in Cape Town, South Africa. From the age of eight I was brought up between both Australia and New Zealand. I emigrated back to South African in 2012, where I studied as a photographer. I continue to work as a freelance photographer in Cape Town today, specialising in documentary, travel, lifestyle and portrait photography as well as working in the film industry as a videographer and camera operator. I am a passionate creative who loves photography, film, music, art and travel. I have a strong need for my work to have meaning and tell a story in some way. Since 2016, I have worked extensively with the Regency Foundation Network as a local and international stills photographer. More recently I was given the opportunity to shoot two episodes of their new series ‘SA Inc.’ for Old Mutual and Shell. Regency Foundation is responsible for the creation of several award-winning corporate documentary series for both local South African clients, as well as international companies/clients, such as Dell, Maersk and Citi Bank. As part of this team I have travelled and worked extensively throughout Africa and overseas.
As part of the creative team for South Africa’s premier Online fashion retailer and blog, I work closely with senior designers, heads of departments, stylists and models. I am responsible for both catalogue and still images in the fashion and homeware departments.
Over four weeks, in August and November 2019, I was contracted by the production company, Afrokaans, as a camera operator, on Season 01 of ‘Hoor My, Sien My, Soen My’, a reality dating TV show, broadcast on the South African, Afrikaans, cable channel, KykNET.
Over two weeks in July, 2019, I was contracted by the production company, Afrokaans, as a camera operator on season 01 of ‘Style Squad’, a fashion design competition, reality show. I operated in both studio and on location with a team of other camera operators, directors, producers and sound crew.
From January until March of 2019 I was employed by Afrokaans to work on the new Survivor South Africa series (season 7) as a night camera operator/content producer. My role included operating the camera, recording sound, directing contestants and producing content as a sole operator. After each shift I was required to brief the series producers and directors as to what transpired over the course of the night with regards to any important content beats and/or story developments.
I worked as a freelance content creator for Ucook, an innovative, South African based, upmarket meal subscription company. In this capacity, I am responsible for the creation of eye-catching content in both photo and video form, using top South African chefs and celebrities. Content included “how to” recipe videos, campaign imagery, video content, GIFS and stills for current campaigns and competitions, for website and social media.
