About me
I have been on parental leave/career break since September 2021. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career break which has allowed me to concentrate on raising my twin boys. Motherhood has been an amazing experience, which has come with its own challenges. I have learnt and grown as a person in ways my career did not allow. As my twins start nursery and gain some independence, the time has come for me to resume my career. Previous to my career break, I worked within a small practice specialising in the high-end residential sector. Working within the high end & luxury residential sector has allowed me to realise where my passions lie within the architectural and interior world. I thoroughly enjoyed working on internal detailing packages such as detailed room elevations, bathroom and kitchen elevations, detailed joinery packages and 3D internal layouts. During my time here I was fortunate enough to work on projects from the conception phase to construction, as the project lead through all the RIBA stages. Working within a small office environment can often be challenging at times, however it was expected of you to work on several projects at various RIBA stages, in parallel. Time management and organisation skills were essential to ensure projects were attended to, fully coordinated and deadlines adhered to. Working at a senior level allowed further development of skills, which I gained throughout my career. Hard work, determination and a willingness to learn helped me greatly in designing, coordinating and managing numerous projects simultaneously. My strengths lie within the latter RIBA stages. Detailing and coordinating tender and construction information, including specification writing. This allowed me to have a lot of exposure to site experience and dealing with clients, consultants, suppliers, contractors, sub-contractors and building contracts. My confidence grew with the responsibilities I was given enabled me to grow as a designer, develop my technical capabilities and acquire people management skills. My 2D AutoCAD and Microstation skills are excellent. My Photoshop, InDesign and Sketch Up are to a high standard. I am open to learning new programs with the appropriate training.
