Having just finished my English (BA Hons) degree, I am interested in working in media and publishing. I have a vast amount of experience as a staff writer, editor and social media manager. As a Content Creator for QMUL I manage the university's social media accounts, creating and scheduling posts. I have started producing a IGTV series, which aims to answer the questions of incoming students and those wishing to participate in the study abroad programme.
A friend and I founded the independent news-outlet last year and I am currently Deputy Chief Editor for the publication. I manage a team of ten writers for the Arts and Entertainment department, editing and scheduling their content. In addition, I regularly conduct interviews and meet with prospective collaborators, for instance securing and maintaining a good working relationship with the Royal Opera House to increase student engagement.
As Front of House for the Michelin-Star restaurant, I head bar service and customer care. Regularly scheduling and organising reservations as well as helping new employees.
I was a Staff Writer for the Film section, regularly pitching ideas to my editor, researching and keeping to set deadlines.
While studying for a semester at Columbia University, I became a Staff Writer for the Columbia Daily Spectator. Working for the Arts and Entertainment section, I attended weekly pitch meetings, co-bylined and was trained by senior writers. I wrote articles on a weekly basis, interviewing and fact-checking each piece before submitting it to editors.
I became a student blogger for Queen Mary, detailing my experiences studying in London and New York. This role was my first induction into the publishing and media industry and gave me experience editing and fact checking my own content. Ultimately this role helped me find a strong sense of accountability and organisation that I have carried with me into my recent work.
Working as a seasonal-temp in a Sales Assistant role, I helped my team to meet sales targets. I was cashier trained and aided customer service for the shop-floor during my time with the company.
As Front of House and Head Waitress, I regularly trained new staff and assisted chefs during busy periods. My responsibilities included customer care, events management and organising the daily running of the bar/restaurant.
I was the first English (BA) student send to Columbia from QMUL. While in New York, I began writing for the student newspaper and participated in a variety of environmental, community events while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.
I am currently awaiting my results and am on track to secure first-class honours. While studying at QM I was a Student Ambassador, as well as writer and blogger for the university's publications.
I took my GCSEs and A-Levels at Fulston Manor. My GCSE results were 4 x A, 4 x B grades (including Maths, English and Science). I took English, History, Psychology and Law at A2 and left sixth-form with A*, B, B, B grades (the A* in English).
I was awarded the Lesley Brook's Prize for English for securing the highest English A-Level result in my school and attaining 100% in the final exam.
I received the Shilling Prize for securing the highest A-Level results in my school.
