Awarded an opportunity to visit India on a two-week cultural immersion placement with ‘IndoGenius’, on behalf of the British Council. I was part of a cohort of 150 students, selected out of a pool of 7,500 applicants across the UK. Visited Delhi and Mumbai, attended expert led lectures, spent three days at Delhi University interacting, along with visiting rural and urban schools. Gained an insight into development and the education system in India. Also had the opportunity of visiting Dharavi slums, as well as numerous sites of religious, cultural, economic and political importance. Unexpectedly translated on a panel discussion to over 150 people in discussion with residents from Dharavi about social inequalities in the slum. Demonstrates adaptability and openness to work in an international environment. Again, will be useful when working with partners across the world.
