About me
Silvana Lagos is a curator and writer based in London. She has wide multidisciplinary experience in the field of Museums and Public Art as a Project Coordinator, Curator, and Educator, with delivered projects in Europe, the United States, Latin America, China, and the Middle East. Her focal point of specialisation is contemporary interdisciplinary processes and their economic, societal or political systems, especially, focused on sound and decolonization. With a fundamental interest in the structure and formulation of systems - how these systems coexist, communicate and the spaces created in between. These range from the language used within the scope and intersection between art and publics. She is also concerned with the hidden histories that are silenced from public collective memory, this too looking at the formulation of information systems, and investigating hidden data within that. As a curator Silvana has worked with the development of the art programme for Norberg Festival as well as with the collective A(by)P in London, curating shows at Somerset House as well as co-curated Silver Sehnsucht as a b-side exhibition during Frieze, 2017, and most recently a show at Revolver Galleria, Lima Peru, 2020. She is on the board of Amalgama, a cultural program and digital platform devoted to exhibiting, promoting and publishing the work of women artists from Latin America, Spain & Portugal. Her recent public program: Trama saw conversations between Rosana Antoli, and Marti Manen, Director of Index, Paola Torrez Núñez de Prado, with Dr. Giuliana Borea and Cecilia Vicuña and Camila Marambio, curator and Director of the nomadic research program Ensayos. As studio director for renowned artist Carsten Höller worked on a variety of notable international projects, exhibitions, and public commissions, such as Fondazione Prada, Miami Prada Double Club, Sunday at Museo Tamayo, Mexico, and Method at Galleria Continua Beijing, and the simultaneous co-running exhibitions at Copenhagen Contemporary and KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, Denmark, Luma Foundation Arles and Qatar Museums.
