I studied my art foundation course at central saint martins and it was here where my passion for design really started. The practical and interactive side to art really interested me; the idea of making something aesthetically exciting as well as functional is what drew me to graphic design.
I continued to study this as a Bachelors course at the University of the Arts London. Throughout my time here I found typography and screen print played a heavy influence on my work, this sparked a love for illustration, colour and shape, three elements that remain core to my artistic style.
Since graduating I have been working for different companies as a freelance designer, from food production to orporate information design. I have expanded on the skills I gained throughout my studies and gained knowledge of how to work within a creative and professional environment.
I feel as though the mix of my work experience has given me an advantage over other employees. Where I can work professionally and confidently within a creative industry, I can also manage people and time whilst liaising with colleagues at ease.
My free time is filled with gallery visits and a continuous search of how I can expand my own skill set. I get inspiration from classic design: from product to architecture. In recent months I have started collaborating with a fine artist to create digital illustrations, which are inspired by light and colour. Our collaborated work has been featured in five editions of three art magazines, and have recently launched our website. www.sjbcharlyg.com
I am now looking for full time design work. I am a hard worker, meticulous on detail and a fast learner. I’m fluent in Adobe illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, as well as confident in Microsoft software’s. I have experience in working to brand guidelines and can confidently create within them, whilst still adding some of my personal style. I’m good at working to tight deadlines and still delivering a high quality product.
I am looking to expand my skill set further, learn more about working within a creative business and contribute as much as I can to a thriving industry.
