About me
A driven designer with a B.A. degree from the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven in the internationally orientated Man & Communication department, I’ve as well a master goldsmith degree from the Vakschool in Schoonhoven. From my time at the Design Academy, I have found broad interests and a general fascination with visual, cultural and digital media which results in human centred design. Besides working as a goldsmith and designer I worked within the service industry, which resulted in having a big interest in service design.

Assisted incapabilitySimone Wouters’ film and installation demonstrates how in today’s society, where people organise their own networks, those with psychosocial problems can easily become stuck. For many with a social disability, the stress of fending for themselves is overwhelming. All the elements within the white frame of Wouters’ installation demonstrate aspects of their individual handicaps, from an inability to organise their time to budgeting problems. • De Kliekjeskar
De KliekjeskarDe Kliekjeskar (kliekje in dutch means leftover and kar means cart) shows people how to cook with leftovers and proves you can make delicious dishes out of them. From local restaurants and cafes, de kliekjeskar collects food that is left over. With these leftovers, such as zucchini or orange peels, bread or cooked rice, new dishes will be created. By showing and sampling the wonderful dishes that can be made the kliekjeskar hopes to inspire, raise awareness and reduce food waste. De kliekjeska

    - Within this department, they foster environments where critical thinking, design processes, and creative output are focused within the context of communication, culture, and media. - I focused on my key strengths; my ability to analyse, visualise and create concepts. For example within my graduation project “assisted incapability”, about people with psychosocial problems, I analysed data, held interviews, visualized my findings and created a concept to create more understanding and awareness. For this project, I was in contact with caretakers, the Salvation Army and people with psychosocial problems. This project was exhibited at two locations during the 2016 Dutch Design week and at one exhibition during the 2017 Dutch design week. - Classes from researchers, designers, documentary makers and visual anthropologists. - Learned to use a diverse range of media; film, products, photography, print. - Through material research and the diverse workshops within the school, I came in contact with a diverse number of materials such as ceramics, plastics, wood, metal and print. - Worked together with engineers and craftsman such as glass blowers, electric engineers. - Worked and presented for clients such as the Dutch public prosecutor’s department, ZLTO and Orange (French telecom company). These and other projects can be found in my portfolio or website; www.simonewouters.com Here you can also find an overview of exhibitions where I presented my work.
