➔ Managing, scheduling and overseeing all marketing, communications and social media related to KCLSU's Sabbatical Officers and internal communications ➔ Planning and delivering all internal communications, including weekly newsletters and all-staff emails ➔ Managing a group of student staff and freelancers ➔ Creating content for the KCLSU website, social media and video platforms ➔ Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders ➔ Planning, producing and editing a monthly podcast ➔ Briefing, communicating and accompanying student officers during media appearances (such as BBC World Service live appearance) and governmental events (such as with Minister of Education)
➔ Pitch article ideas to a variety of online and print media outlets, adhering to specific audiences and showcasing an innovative, on-brand voice on strict and tight deadlines, understanding and adhering to publications’ style guides ➔ Currently work with organisations such as NUS, Strand Magazine, gal-dem, Media Diversity Institute, and GirlDreamer. ➔ Wrote an opinion article for Strand Magazine on damaging sexist and racist stereotypes of Brazilian women from a national and international viewpoint. As well as researching and fact checking, I also translated a variety of sources originally written in Portuguese as supplementary research for the article.
➔ Write articles for KCLSU’s Marketing department from a student perspective, in accordance to the Union’s current events and celebrations ➔ Researching what students are interested in depending on the academic calendar through interviews with students and staff. Created a Moving In Guide for new students. The guide received over 10,000 views during September. ➔ Created a 15-page research document on how universities can accommodate LGBT and transgender students involved in sport teams through researching, fact checking, and contacting over a hundred British and International sport team associations, universities and union press offices to question their current inclusion policies.
➔ Edit one student article a week ➔ Organise publishing schedules in accordance to the whole company’s timeline to ensure the correct number of articles are published every week
➔ Created and edited media, including videos, articles, conference calendars, newsletters and programme booklets ➔ Produced four 30-page booklets created on Publisher through researching and collating information gathered from a variety of different departments into one concise document for participants and staff
➔ Managed 15 student journalists in editing and publishing articles ➔ Hold weekly meetings to commission articles, features and vox-pops ➔ Broke a story on a speaker event being disrupted by protesters. Contacted and interviewed students and staff on scene through social media and in person to get information and footage as the evacuation was happening. Contacted the university’s press office for comment and submitted FOI requests for updates. The story was picked up by The Guardian, The Independent, The Sun, Daily Mail and The Telegraph and has over 20,000 page views and 757 shares
