This freelance job involved designing a set of graphics to go on t-shirts that are aimed primarily at a male demographic between 18-26 years of age. I worked on this project with another design student and between us we came up with about 9 designs. I took on the leading role for this project but we worked as a team and split the work between us equally. We began the process by researching our target audience and identifying graphic-tee trends. We compared different competitors and once all of our research was done we began the ideation stage of our process. We began by brainstorming ideas and picking out the ones that had most legs. We then came up with as may iterations as possible for each of our main ideas and we showed our client to see what style he preferred. Our client was extremely helpful as he had a sample of 50-100 people in our target audience take a look at our designs and choose which designs were the strongest. We improved our designs several times and each time our client, some of the stakeholders of the SPARO brand and the sample audience would give us feedback to work on for our next set of iterations. After improving and changing our designs about 5 times we had our final 3 sets of graphic tees. The tees got sent to a production company who printed out the t-shirts and they will be sold on the SPARO website later this year. It was an enlightening experience because we learnt to communicate effectively with our stakeholders and understand how working for a clothing brand works. I really enjoyed the freedom we had as designers to be creative and think outside the box.

I joined a team of students to promote the 'baseline shift' events that take place in the department of Graphic Communication and Typography at the University of Reading. These events consist of talks and workshops led by alumni, current students, staff and external talkers from the design world. Our job is to create posters for each event to go up around campus as well as promoting the events on facebook groups and instagram. We also write blogs for each event that go up on the typography.network
