About me
I am a highly motivated and experienced Senior Communications Officer within a Marketing and Events team. Since finishing university I have worked in the public sector and within two years I have progressed from an Assistant Communications Officer to a Senior Communications Officer. I have expert knowledge of project management in marketing and events with a track record of delivering excellent service whilst inspiring others to do the same. I am confident in juggling a range of competing priorities in order to deliver multiple large-scale, high profile projects in a fast paced, changing environment.

    As a Senior Communications Officer, I work closely with the Head of Events and Marketing to manage the Marketing, Events, Design and Multimedia teams within the Communications department. Key responsibilities include: • Manage and oversee the day to day workload of a team of 10 people ensuring all officers have a clear brief of tasks and responsibilities • Drive the team to deliver a high standard of work on time and on brief • Support team members with development opportunities including graduate officers, assistant officers and events / marketing officers • Network, create and maintain relationships with a range of high profile stakeholders; across internal departments, key community bodies, councillors, business and partner organisations including NHS, police and fire • Project manage all events and marketing campaigns from brief to completion on time, within budget and to an exceptional standard • Strategic forward planning to help deliver the organisation’s business plan and department objectives whilst ensuring we are keeping up to date with industry trends • Shape the creative direction for all events and marketing campaigns for a range of channels; digital, print and video • Provide expert professional and technical advice to deliver a range of communications services through appropriate channels • Deliver clear communication to all stakeholders with the appropriate level of detail and content for the audience

    The key focus in this role was to lead and oversee the delivery of Wiltshire Council’s event programme. Key responsibilities included: • Management of a variety of events including corporate dinners, awards ceremonies, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, official openings, national and local elections • Oversee all logistics of events • Develop and implement events strategies to fit with the organisations values and direction • Managing the overall event budget and process including proposing different budget options and ensuring all events are delivered in the most innovative and cost-effective ways whilst striving to achieve the highest standards • Working with suppliers to ensure quality and standards and the best cost is negotiated • Working and co-ordinating activity with internal teams including the wider communications team, facilities management, finance, legal and risk • Working with key partners and sponsors to deliver their requirements and nurture long-term relationships • Manage the overall ‘look’ of events including creating a brand for each event • Organising and leading regular event meetings with key stakeholders • Managing all event documentation • Deliver and shape the event marketing
