Award-winning director and film designer based in the Midlands. Before moving to directing, I first started working in the film industry as an art director and costume designer, which gives me a strong eye for visual detail in every film I make.

I founded the indie production company Triskelle Pictures Ltd. in 2008, and it became a Prince's Trust supported business in 2020. Our credits include the short films 'Stop/Eject' (Raindance 2014, BAFTA Longlist 2015), 'Night Owls' (LSFF 2016, and winner of 17 awards), and the musical fantasy 'Songbird', starring the X Factor's Janet Devlin. - Growing Shadows: The Poison Ivy Fan FilmSomeone has been poisoning the residents of Gotham, using venomous plants. All signs suggest that this is the work of Poison Ivy - but as she's been locked up inside Arkham Asylum, how could she be responsible? A mysterious visitor will find out the truth. This film, directed by Sophie Black, was a non-profit passion project made by and for fans of DC's green goddess.
- SongbirdA modern fairytale, set in the world of open mic nights! The film starred and featured original songs by Janet Devlin (The X Factor), and the songs were mastered at none other than Abbey Road Studios! Directed by Sophie Black, written by Tommy Draper and produced by Laura C. Cann. The film won 26 awards including multiple wins/nominations for the soundtrack and score.
