I am a freelance fashion assistant with a background in PR and illustration. I have worked for the Sunday Times Style, Harper's Bazaar and Scandinavian publication Damernas Värld, assisting on editorial, still life and celebrity photo shoots.Locked Pro Plan feature
I worked with the team to understand the logistics of the fashion cupboard including the preparation behind both still life and celebrity photoshoots. I organised incoming and outgoing samples, prepared the team and press diaries, input product information for flat lay photoshoots and liaised with the post rooms to ensure samples were correctly handled.
At Sunday Times Style, I worked with the fashion assistants and fashion editor, maintaining the fashion room and liaising with PR agencies. I prepared for and assisted at shoots, being asked back to join Flossie Saunders on the recent Cheryl Cole cover story and Jane McFarland's Wardrobe Mistress. It was essential that the fashion cupboard was organised for the magazine's busy schedule to ensure a smooth turnover between shoots.
I was the assistant to the Senior Fashion PR Manager at K&H, communicating with press and media to build brand awareness. I organised events, developed relationships between the brands and their clients, and created promotional material to publicise new collections. The agency coordinated RIXO's first LFW week show - I was responsible for the guest list, using knowledge of the fashion industry and the brand to create an audience that would give their presentation maximum impact.
As a PR consultant intern I collated metrics on media effectiveness of brands including Stine Goya and By Malene Birger throughout Stockholm's fashion industry. I helped organise press days for Bik Bok and Åhléns and assisted in the showroom. I learnt about the impact of advertising and product placement and how this, and the work of PR agencies and advertising, successfully translates into print and revenue.
At Damernas Värld, I assisted at photoshoots, corresponded with Stockholm's major PR agencies via phone and email, and managed the fashion room. I researched and produced my own page for the March issue and was credited as a contributor, as well as co-directing a still life editorial. I organised the fashion director's attendance at London Fashion Week, engaging with international PR agencies, working to tight deadlines. I represented the magazine at press and media events.
Erasmus semester in Gothenburg, Sweden studying design. I like to push boundaries and challenge myself which was my motivation for moving to Sweden for a year. The opportunity to study art and design from another perspective introduced me a step by step development process with critical analysis of my work and an integral research component. I effectively used these skills to produce an animation and review a theoretical text as part of the course deliverable.
Three year Illustration degree with an additional Erasmus year in Sweden taking this to a four year duration. An exploration into visual language which culminated in an exhibition of my creative practice. The course has provided the skills and confidence to become an autonomous learner, with project management, show curation and problem solving being integral aspects of my degree. During this time my practice has developed from traditional fine art to digital film and installation, with a reflective blog commenting on my journey.
One year Foundation course where I studied a range of disciplines including graphic design, painting and sculpture. This year of exploration led to the decision to study Illustration at degree level.
For my final year dissertation entitled "Representations of Femininity in Alexander McQueen's VOSS" I was awarded 'Dissertation of the Year' for my university course.
