About me
Hey
I’m a Business Development Associate for BBC World Services, specifically for North America. I deal with podcasts and sounds.
My previous role at BBC Wales sat in the TV and iPlayer commissioning as the Team Assistant. Having the chance to set visit, sit in on editing and compliance meetings (just to name a few things).
I have also done a placement in BBC Radio Wales as a Social Media Content Producer.
I am interested in work which involves social media, marketing, planning, scheduling and analysing.
Work history
Business Development AssociateBBC
London, United KingdomFull Time
The role places me at the heart of a busy business development team who work across world services and radio international. I work directly with North America. As well as working with the many business systems my work involves often complex internal and external event management. From setting up in person business meetings to internal senior leader events. Organising a large number of partners who have often travelled a significant distance it is important that everything runs smoothly. I love being part of a team that deliver these events but I also enjoy the buzz of fixing situations that may come up. I recently helped the Creative Diversity team run an event in Cardiff for 100 contributors. It was busy but enormous fun and my network of contacts (built whilst working in commissioning) came in very handy. In my current role I work with world services team, business development team, distributors in America, marketing team, finance team, legal team, comms team and operations team. The role allows me to work with a range of people in order to ensure the smooth running of BBC content around the world.

Team AssistantBBC Wales
- Cardiff, United KingdomFull Time
My previous role placed me within a busy video/iPlayer commissioning team who work across scripted and unscripted. I coordinated the diaries of five commissioners, booked meeting rooms, set up zooms and general admins support for the team. I have been given amazing opportunities, for example; going on set visits, sitting in on edits and sitting in on various compliance meetings. I attended meetings and gave input to the pitches sent in by production companies. I worked with network commissioning, marketing, administrative support and audiences and managing these relationships is something I really enjoy.
The nature of the job in commissioning means that often I am compiling sensitive date and information to feed into the editorial standards team, marketing and audiences, nations division and Content division too. I have to be very well organised and timely; working to deadlines on pieces of work that will be part of executive board meetings.
Experience within the BBC:
• Radio Wales Social Media Content Producer (80/20) - this is where I got to experience a different area of the BBC, going from TV to Radio. It has been a great opportunity being able to see how Radio runs. The role consisted of content creating, content planning, and analysing. I was capturing content, editing content, and posting onto Facebook and Twitter. I also cross-posted from other BBC accounts, scheduled posts and tweets, and kept track of the insights for both sites. I gathered the information and created a monthly email to analyse and summarise my findings. I have learnt to edit videos on Premiere Pro. I covered the socials for the King’s visit to Wales, Live Music Day at Central Square, and have experienced the quick turnaround and changes during The Queen’s death. During Live Music Day, I was capturing content in the studio and around BBC Central Square.
An example of a piece of content I produced for the Radio Wales Facebook page here - https://fb.watch/lyGoS4knY6/.
• Marketing (80/20) – I am due to start an 80/20 placement within marketing.
• Event Coordinator for Diversity day – managing talent and stakeholders, booking rooms and facilities, organising tech, and being part of the creative team that delivered the event.
• Facilitating/Coordinating a Commissioning webinar for the production sector – including playing of clips and powerpoint and managing multiple contributors.
• Managing projects - a scheme which allows access for production companies to the BBC premise.
Joining academic sessions has been vital in growing my skillset and knowledge. I have been on Production Unlocked sessions like The Art of Longform Storytelling and How to Reach the Youth Audience. Great and informative sessions. This role has also allowed me to network and build relationships with stakeholders at BBC Wales and at Nations, indies and many teams within the organisation.
