I have recently finished my bachelor’s degree in Audio Production at the SAE Institute and I am projected to achieve either a first or a 2:1. Previous experience and ongoing practices/research, both in and out of formal education, have afforded me the opportunity to hone my skills with a variety of musical software, hardware and instruments.
I have had key involvement – both in my studies and extracurricular activities - supporting and coordinating several performances in a variety of venues across multiple genres. This has ranged from smaller session bands to symphony orchestras. This has included liaising with grunge and jazz bands - as well as an opera singer at Oxford University. This has involved planning all the meetings and studio sessions and communicating with both clients and colleagues. Throughout every practical module in my degree, I needed to plan (create timelines), conceptualize, and then create original music for my chosen assignments. I needed to clearly communicate in order to balance projects and to keep them focused, especially due to my constant collaboration with lecturers, students and external parties on multiple projects.
Moreover, I am able to adapt to any brief and work well under pressure. For example, I created an EP about life and death, emulating different cultural music styles that I had not worked with before. For this, I decided to research four different cultures, create respective digital album artwork covers - and music from scratch - whilst keeping to a brief. Alongside this project, I also created all of the ADR and Foley for an eight-minute animation; I mixed and mastered both projects and kept to tight essay deadlines.
All of my work is detailed on my website: www.stefanfletcher.co.uk
I have a high attention-to-detail and have a unique gauge on style, scale, tonality and the feel of a project. Having created music and effects for film and games, I know how to maximise and evoke emotional impact and how to project emotion through musical tethers to character and object. I have worked across multiple genres – grunge, opera, jazz and world music (to name a few) – and can adapt to any creative brief. In conjunction with creating, mixing and mastering in studios, much of my work has been carried out remotely. In this way, I am able to create a high quality and professional standard regardless of my tools or location.
Another passion of mine is my independent work. This has involved composing a portfolio of music independently and creating apps and coding games on Unity and Xcode. I am always looking to expand my skillset and welcome new challenges and working long hours on projects.
I believe working at your company would give me the perfect opportunity to develop my skills and I would deeply appreciate the opportunity to work in a high-pace, innovative environment. I believe I would be a strong candidate for this role, as my technical and practical skillset, my classical background - and my passion for music and game - enables me to bring imagination, technique, dedication and musicality to any work I do.
Projects
- Business and Marketing Video for an App/serviceIn one of my modules for university, I created a Business and Marketing Video from scratch using only photoshop, premiere pro and adobe after effects. Within the video, I needed to hit certain markers, so the user will understand the flow and narrative of the video. These markers included, what the service and app are about, what they are designed for, etc. For both the business and marketing videos I received a 1st.
