About me
Studio SK create immersive installations and set designs informed by space, light and sound. We collaborate closely with brands to realise innovative projects from concept to fruition. Our work delivers engaging experiences for audiences that exceed client’s expectations with meaning and beautifully crafted design. Studio SK was founded in 2018 by artist Sebastian Kite as a platform to translate his creative output into the commercial realm. With backgrounds in art, architecture and design, Studio SK work with diverse sectors such as aviation, technology, luxury, fashion and retail. The Studio has delivered projects for international clients such as Adidas, Coca-Cola, Hermes and Royal Salute. Kite and his team practice out of their independent workshop in London, designing, testing and building every project by hand. • La Cura, Salone de Mobile
La Cura, Salone de MobileSalone de Mobile, Milan, IT, 2012 La Cura was an antidote to the chaos of Salone del Mobile, a hospital for the senses. Whilst experiencing a therapeutic sound and light composition, visitors were presented with a ball of white clay to shape it into something that reflected their own expression. These artworks were collected and clustered together during the course of the week to create a collective sculpture. Made with Studio Toogood
  • The Conductor
The ConductorEstablished & Sons, London Design Festival, UK, 2013 Visitors to the gallery will be able to watch and control a rhythmic symphony of light played out on a giant circuit board of zinc-plated steel, passivated to provide insulation from electrical interference. Echoing the graphic of an equaliser, 160 fluorescent bulbs, fed by a skein of wires and cables, light up in alternating currents. The circuit is completed by the audience themselves, who have the capacity to “conduct” this electrical spect
  • The Green Ray
The Green RayIf you watch the sun descending as it sets behind the horizon line you may be lucky enough to see a phenomena called the ‘green ray’. Inspired by the appearance of this phenomena, The Green Ray embodies the rising and falling of the Arizona sunset. The semi-circular sculpture floats just above the water level, using the reflection of the water to complete its form into a full sphere. Powered by using solar energy, the installation links our dependence on the life-giving elements of sun and water

  • We will meet in the place where there is no darkness
We will meet in the place where there is no darknessIn George Orwell’s dystopian classic 1984, the author makes reference to a place where there is no darkness. A place our lead protagonist Winston Smith believes to be free from the oppression of the totalitarian state under which he lives. Deceived to visit this place by the state Police, Smith instead finds himself under the glaring lights of an interrogation cell, permanently lit to aid his state of torture. For We will meet in the place where there is no darkness, artist Sebastian Kite crea
  • Orbit
OrbitOrbit is a kinetic light installation designed for a former railway tunnel. A series of rotors of increasing diameter and speed are positioned along the 80m space, projecting laser beams into the void. Their orbiting constellation targets towards a circular plane at the end of the tunnel. The viewer follows the rays overhead, approaching the swirling red cells emanating from the vanishing point. The churning rumble of the revolving cogs reveals a machine in perpetual motion. Made with Will La
  • Relay ‘A Leap In The Dark’
Relay ‘A Leap In The Dark’Relay is the creation of an immersive acoustic and visual environment designed specifically in response to the Testbed1 space. The installation comes alive through tactile human interaction and is spatially configured in such a way to encourage the discovery of architectural space through touch, sound and light. The installation employs light and sound as a means to disorient and challenge our perception of space, disconnecting us from the usual stimuli upon which we rely for navigation. The a
  • Horizons
HorizonsIn Horizons, two horizontal beams of light, consisting of opposing complementary colours, travel autonomously in opposing vertical directions. Driven by four stepper motors, the lights align to produce an artificial white horizon line in the space. Simulating reality, the colour of the room shifts in constant flux, subservient to the behaviour of the machine. Standing afar, an ethereal and meditative atmosphere is produced, a transcendental state evoking place and memory. In this work fluoresc
  • EXP
EXPThe project entitled EXP, is Kite’s first exploration of the relationship between light, architecture and the urban environment. The project focuses on the disused Millennium Mills in the docks of Silvertown, a towering vestige to London’s industrial past. One of a few remaining uninhabited parts of London, the expansive and desolate site acts as a testing ground for experimental interventions. EXP consists of a series of photographic studies, performance and the design of a hypothetical ins
  • Panoptic
PanopticThe installation is an instrument for observation, a device through which the ocular perception of the prison is altered. The project explores the notion of panoptics, a term derived from the philosophical and architectural concept of the panopticon, first conceived by Jeremy Bentham during the Age of Enlightenment, a spatial paradigm through which society can be observed and controlled. The project investigates the correlation between voyeurism and architectural space and how panoptic-based arc
