As part of a university project where we collaborated on a project with HCL Technologies, we were given a brief to design a product for the disadvantaged that had to be a one-off 3D printed product. The idea was called KeyLight, a key casing for people who had compulsive checking, a form of OCD. It included an LED light which turned on and is kept on until the door is once again unlocked. This is so that the person who has compulsive checking is reassured by the light and know that their door is still locked.

As the first collaboration project, we were set a task in groups by Herman Miller to design a piece of furniture for rural schools in India. This meant going back to basics and designing a product that was simple to make and was able to be repaired on site. Concept Ikka was our groups idea, a small table with teaching aids for basic English and Maths for the kids to learn from and when the table top is flipped over there is space for the students to draw and be creative. It is easily storable as schools in India are very small and we believe our idea would work. We were given the opportunity to go to Herman Miller headquarters to present our ideas to Peter Butt and other senior members of the design team
