Projects
  • MSc
MScMy Masters dissertation looked at the niche range and diet of herbivores. I designed the data capture methods and using library and internet resources came up with a database of over 1000 plant species. I used statistical programs innovatively to show the information needed in the best possible way. The conclusions of the dissertation discovered some new interesting factors that may have led to the extinction of the Mammoth.
  • Evolutionary trees
Evolutionary treesAs part of my Masters I was given 10 species of Butterfly and asked to find their evolutionary relationship. I chose morphological (physical) characteristics to grade in presence or absence to create a matrix of characters. I then ran the matrix through Paup and manipulated the settings to create evolutionary trees to show the relationship of the Butterflies in the sample.
