About me
Curiosity, slef-teaching and eagerness are the root of all my success.
Projects
  • The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft
The Fantastical Factory of Curious CraftI was chosen out of thousands of makers across the uk to compete in a new TV competition about craft and making. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and it is an on screen, see-for-yourself kind of way to show how I work well under pressure and with deadlines.
  • Hijabaphobia Campaign
Hijabaphobia CampaignThis was a campaign ran by myself in my third year of university. These are the art piece I created but the campaign itself involved public speaking, running lectures, social experiments, opening myself up to uncomfortable questions and writing a book on my experience a muslim women in a white majority community.
  • The Hand Machine at Manufactory
The Hand Machine at ManufactoryI discovered a technique to learn how to throw for beginners and then adapted for the public to use. I exhibited the workshop at a sponsored event in Old Spitalfields Market called "Manufactory". It was hugely popular and attracted many different individuals.

Making for conceptual design, predominantly in the luxury retail sector, gave me an advanced level of workshop skills. The overturn was rapid and the deadlines were tight, which was perfect for pressure fuelled problem solving. I've been working here on an off for about two years.

I worked in the industrial design department of this famous architecture firm. I found working in an architecture office different from a product design office. Here my research and development upgraded to a superior level due to the philosophy of attention to detail architecture firms have. everything had to be perfect down to the millimetre.

No.1 in the guardian league tables, Kingston offers a course that has a heavy influence of making due to the multi-million pound workshop facilities they own. Because of this I have a diverse range of workshop skills swell as many software skills. Their CAD focus was mainly on Solidworks but I am a fast learner and am known to pick up software completely alien to me in a short amount of time.

My A-levels were reflective of my varied interests- Graphic Products, Philosophy and Biology. I also took extracurricular creative writing classes. They all help me to this day to think outside of the box and bring something different to the table that others won't. What attracted to me to Strodes was the small but affective design technology workshop they had.
