Tanya Fryer is an artist, illustrator and surface pattern designer, specialising in hands-on processes such as drawing, screen-printing and embroidery. Her work is inspired by cities and landscapes that she has explored across the world, recording her findings in a meticulous illustrative manner. Through the use of fine liners, pencils and paint she captures the character, texture and colour of a city onto paper. This work is then developed and translated into design through print/embroidery, using layering techniques, placement and a confident use of colour to create resolved and finalised work.
This textile course enabled Tanya to develop an individual sense of style, experimenting with both traditional and contemporary methods. The first year enabled exploration into knit, weave, embroidery, digit and screen printing techniques. Professional practice was embedded within the course, featuring live industry projects from Little Shrimp and Anthropologie. Tanya received a First Class Honours with her specialism in print and embroidery.
