One of them is to occupy the term “contemplation,” not only in the mystical sense of the word, but with connotations coming from different fields. Contemplation is conscious gazing, the in-between space by which dualities like inside/outside, mind/body get to be dissolved in order to elevate the content of the form and the experience within it. - Border-Bridges Art Show, LAKINO Latin American Film Festival Berlin 2014The exhibition confronts the visitor with the historic interpretation of the German territory and the public space of Berlin. Taking these topics as a starting point it establishes a similarity which demonstrates the paradox of the so-called “globalized world” in which we live in and which is full of geopolitical barriers (among others, the fence that separates the USA and Mexico). Using a subtle language and through different formats (manifest, photography, video and sound), twelve Latin American artists lay out new approximations, reflexions and questions around the concept of the border.
