About me
A recent English Literature graduate with a 2:1 honours from the University of Roehampton, I am looking to eventually pursue my passion for working within the world of news or commentary writing.
Since a young age, books have not only given me countless hours of enjoyment, but also played a pivotal role in helping me to craft my ideas and ethos for what I’d like to achieve professionally. I have amassed a collection of over 300 of my favourite books, ranging from Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale – which characterises my fascination with exploring structures of power within society - to classic authors like James Joyce and George Orwell’s Shooting an Elephant.
With such an avid interest in reading and writing, I have managed to develop a natural flair for writing critically, as well as the important skill of copywriting for both discursive and promotional purposes. I enjoy writing in a variety of forms - from persuasive, argumentative writing through to more expository or narrative styles; I was incredibly proud when one of my stories was published by the University of Roehampton in their Speechless anthology.
My eventual goal is to pursue a career in academia, taking up a position as a Senior Lecturer at a University, in order to affect how young people consume and engage with media and literature, as well as having the opportunity to deliver my own criticisms on past and present socio-cultural writings.
