About me
I have spent the last seven years working in project management, business development and events at SOAS. I have taken the decision to leave with voluntary severance and want to use this opportunity to move into product management. I am looking to join somewhere where my previous experience can be beneficial to the company and offer me a place to learn about product management. I am passionate about tech and have my own project as a sideline which has taught me a lot about the industry.

Event Management ● Organisation and production of all large scale recruitment, Clearing Campaign, Public Lecture series, Graduation Ceremonies and Telephone Campaigns. These events frequently attract over 1000 prospective students. Manage technicians, academics, caterers, cleaners, guest speakers and student ambassadors. ● Arranging the production of all digital and physical promotional materials for these events. ● Setup events and communicate with prospective students using the Schools CRM system. ● Create events and manage design for events on the schools CMS system (The Percussion Rhythmyx). ● Financial responsibility for monitoring the events teams' budgets. ● Managing the department's Social Media outlets. Project Management ● Managing the school’s student ambassador scheme: My role throughout the year is to organize recruitment of over 100 student ambassadors, training and finding new roles for the ambassadors from the various departments and recruit them into new positions. Given the range of roles ambassadors are expected to work on it is important to recruit ambassadors with a range of skills. ● Managing design and production of signage for SOAS's large scale events such as Graduation Ceremonies. This involves working closely with the designer to develop new concepts to improve the look and feel of large scale events. ● In the lead up to events I manage the Universities CRM system, organise booking forms and work in a team creating the copy that is sent out to potential attendees. I use Mailchimp to monitor success rates of these email campaigns. Achievements • Managing the internal customer focus groups that participated in the implementation of the new SOAS website. • Taking on the Management Schools merchandise, both high end gifts for donors and give aways at recruitment events. Sourcing new products, meeting and arranging suppliers balancing low price with exceptional quality. It is important to recognise that donors come from around the world and I need to deliver appropriate products that represent SOAS and the varied stakeholders who use them. I have successfully built a relationship with a factory in India who supply us with an economic range of quality leather goods. • Production of the Seasonal Events Calendar. With limited finance, SOAS struggles to compete with events calendars of larger institutions. To ensure the SOAS calender stands out. I involve the curator of the exhibition hall and arrange relevant images from each exhibition. Market research has confirmed that, since my involvement SOAS has enjoyed increased attendance at the various events around the University with a 45% growth in customers saying they were attracted to the SOAS event from the calendar. • Moving to a video application process for the schools ambassador scheme. Given the number of applications we receive each year this has allowed us to find ambassadors that fit the needs of the scheme.
