About me

I am currently employed as a marketing/ events assistant within the higher education sector at the SOAS, University of London and am now looking to transfer into the digital sector, as a Junior Digital Project Manager. I hope you will agree that a number of my skills are transferable to the digital business and I have laid out those which I consider particularly relevant. ? In the lead up to events I manage the Universities CRM system, organise booking forms and work in a team creating the copy that is sent out to potential attendees. I use Mailchimp to monitor success rates of these email campaigns. ? Organising University Inaugural Lectures, typically attended by over 100 guests, from planning to completion of event. This involves both hand held and digital marketing materials. Directing technicians to ensure each event is setup to meet the lecturer's needs. ? Managing design and production of signage for SOAS's large scale events such as Graduation Ceremonies. This involves working closely with the designer to develop new concepts to improve the look and feel of large scale events. ? Financial responsibility for monitoring the events teams' budgets. ? Managing the school’s student ambassador scheme: My role throughout the year is to organize recruitment, training and finding new roles for the ambassadors from the various departments and recruit them into new positions. ? Managing the department's Social Media outlets. My input has seen the departments Twitter account rise from 500 to over 1,200 followers. ? Using University’s CMS (The Percussion Rhythmyx) to update any changes required to improve the presentation and relevance of the SOAS website. ? Manage the production of the quarterly events calendar by engaging stakeholders and ensuring everyone is motivated and involved in the next edition. To produce this I deal with external designers, external printers and internal stakeholders from throughout SOAS including academics and course convenors. ? Assisting in the organization and production of large scale recruitment events such as Open Days, Taster Days, Insight Days, Clearing Campaign and Telephone Campaigns. These events frequently attract over 1000 prospective students. Manage technicians, academics, caterers, cleaners, guest speakers, student ambassadors and coordination of on- the- day student panels. ? Assisting in both the organization and production of the university’s Graduation Ceremonies. ? Processing of invoices and temporary staff wages via the schools internal payroll system. ? Organisation of the SOAS annual Christmas Social Event. This is an all staff event attended by over 300 colleagues. Duties include venue sourcing, catering order, entertainment and decoration. (what steps are needed to satisfy all tastes and preferences – questionnaires? – or what you think is best?) Key Achievements’ • Taking on the Management Schools merchandise, both high end gifts for donors and give aways at recruitment events. Sourcing new products, meeting and arranging suppliers balancing low price with exceptional quality. It is important to recognise that donors come from around the world and I need to deliver appropriate products that represent SOAS and the varied stakeholders who use
