About me

Hi there! I’m a freelance animator and motion graphics designer with a love of characters and strong, bold design. I’m currently based in Cardiff, UK. I’ve been working as an animator and editor for nearly 15 years now. During this time I’ve worked across a huge breadth of projects, for all kinds of clients ranging from advertising agencies to charities, independent films to the BBC and beyond. In addition to my creative work, I run an annual 48 hour animation challenge called Quick Draw and have mentored young animators for Screenskills, BFI and The Crewing Company.

Family Futures - WeFosterI really enjoyed directing and animating this film promoting Family Futures’ new adoption service WeFoster. Characters were rigged and animated in After Effects using DUIK, with lots of paper textures and drop shadow to give a cutout feel. Voiceover by Hannah Melbourn.

BBC Two: Inside Our Autistic MindsPresented by Chris Packham, this series gives a voice to autistic people, asking them to explain how being autistic effects their lives. This is then distilled down into short films, written by the documentary’s subjects, that use animation, motion graphics and VFX to bring their words to life. I worked across most of the animated sequences in the show, predominantly as a compositor, but also doing some editing, grading and motion graphics. Nick Cope's Popcast’ve worked with Complete Control as an animator on 3 series of this lovely show for BBC CBeebies. Nick Cope’s Popcast takes place in a magical world of music, animals, rainbows and dragons which is brought to life through a combination of live-action and 2D animation. I was brought on to the first series as a compositor initially, adding bits of live action to the animated songs and animation to the live action sequences. Becoming SingaporeI had a great time working at Hello Charlie in Bristol on these beautifully designed pop-up style animated inserts for a broadcast documentary on the history of Singapore. That Makes Two of UsShort film written, directed and animated as part of my MA in Animation. The film has been screened at a number of international festivals, including Animation Dingle in Ireland and Athen's Animation Festival, where it recieved a special mention in the Student competition. The film was animated in TVPaint with backgrounds drawn in Photoshop and composited in After Effects.
