My interest in journalism started to manifest during my A-Levels, after choosing English Language and Literature my passion for writing began to grow. My undergraduate course at the University of Worcester was in English Language and Journalism as although my passion for journalism had increased significantly, i did not want to leave my niche too narrow. After graduating, I wholeheartedly decided that journalism was the profession I would like to pursue and seeing as Sport is my other passion, the natural progression for me was to combine the two and study Sports Broadcast Journalism at Staffordshire University.
So far, in my brief journalistic career I have produced content for GiveMeSport, 90min.com, Daily Mirror, City AM whilst also creating articles for my own website- viewfromhalfway.wordpress.com. This has enabled me to network and build a forever growing list of contacts, in which some have bestowed their knowledge onto me, helping me gain more valuable skills to add to my arsenal.
Although I have written about predominantly sport, during my brief stint at City AM, I thoroughly enjoyed exporing different patches on the news desk such as Retail, Finance & Banking and Technology- this is something I would like to challenge myself with further.
Additionally, I have also had the opportunity to apply myself in various practical opportunities on my masters course. This includes learning the complexities of a radio and TV studio as well as reporting on events such as the Staffs/Keele Varsity and commentating on the BUCS Amateur Boxing Championships.
My capabilities are:
-Working with Premier Pro, Adobe Audition, Burli & Final Cut Pro
- Working well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Social Media efficiency (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Reading and delivering scripts for TV and Radio
- Experience in these positions in TV (University): Sound Desk, Auto-Cue, TriCaster, Presenter, Camera man
-Extensive sport knowledge
