About me
I have recently graduated from the MA Arts & Learning at Goldsmiths University of London, with a background in photography, fine art and video. I have been involved in different kinds of art practices (i.e. sculpture, photography, video art, performance and performance studies). I am particularly interested in community arts and how the day-to-day relationships with others, and the resultant dialogue, is a trigger for creativity. I was born and raised in the heart of Rome and I have lived in South London for almost eight years, experiencing first hand the cultural offering that this eclectic and diverse part of the city has to offer. Having studied Arts & Learning, I recognise how important creative learning is for children and young adults, especially when often schools fail to support them. I am very interested in a gallery’s drive towards diversity, representation and accessibility, which are at the core of my art practice and research. My past professional experiences include organising and curating exhibitions, events and workshops, as well as dealing with various administrative tasks and archiving audio-visual material. With Peckham Platform and Furtherfield Gallery I have supported young people from different backgrounds to engage with art and culture, through assisting with the production of different activities like workshops, talks and the creation of diverse, imaginative and inspiring displays of artworks that drew the attention of both art professionals and general public. I particularly enjoyed spending my time volunteering for Peckham Platform and being part of its vibrant community. Furthermore, I have a very keen interest in education and alternative or experimental modes of learning and the local, national and international context of arts education. With 21 Artists, a socially-driven arts-based project, I have assisted with facilitating, producing, documenting and evaluating artistic interventions in alternative spaces internationally. I was also creating and posting contents to digital channels, undertaking research into online influences and managing social media campaigns. During my work at Science, Damien Hirst’s studios, I have coordinated and maintained efficient and effective administrative systems, working in a flexible and co-operative way to ensure the smooth running of the office and its functions. I have assisted in organising cross-departmental meetings, creating agendas and meeting minutes. I have archived materials for past exhibitions and kept accurate records of past exhibitions. In 2015, I co-founded the art collective Art Placebo: we believe in the use of visual arts as an educational, holistic and creative tool for change. We have been curating, producing and delivering a diverse range of workshops, with children as well as adults, both nationally and internationally in different educational, community and gallery-based projects. With Austrian, Italian and Spanish backgrounds, our workshops encourage us and others to explore our identities and embrace our differences. As a proactive and creative person, I am confident in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with external colleagues, artists, curators, consultants, stakeholders and other individuals involved in the planning and implementation of exhibition projects. I speak fluent English and Italian, with a basic understanding of French and Spanish: during my experience in different art galleries, it was essential for me to maintain high standards of written and spoken communication and to always approach both internal and external colleagues with patience, in a supportive and helpful manner. I believe that my past professional experiences provided me with great transferable skills, which will be very helpful for the role: I am able to take initiatives, cooperate well and achieve measurable results. I am also very familiar with email marketing and how to help manage a gallery’s social media presence, how to generate new ideas for creative and engaging content and how to deliver an excellent customer service. I am experienced and knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), data processing tools and spreadsheets, basic graphic design tools and website templates (e.g. clikpic.com, wix.com). I am passionate about exhibitions organisation and working in teams as it gives me the opportunity to showcase my strong attention to detail, efficiency and time management skills. Furthermore, I truly believe that a positive experience at a workplace is essential for each individual and I am keen to share this attitude and philosophy in a platform like that believes in working as a whole experience: professional and personal.
