"Vasilisa Forbes is a film-maker/video-director and fashion photographer who's also the brains behind the #WaxChick project. You might have seen her billboards popping up around London, or caught her speaking at the ICA. Controversial and thought-provoking, her focus on female sexuality in the insidious world of advertising is eye-opening to say the least." by Jade French, Creativepool I'm driven by challenging the status quo and creating videos with a sense of strong passion, story-telling and powerful visual imagery that goes beyond conventional visual imagery. I create videos that show something more than just the story, but a underlying message, a visual tale and a visual journey, with an ambitiously artistic point-of-view and layered story-telling style. I want to create videos that go beyond the norm, and empower, shock, excite and engage the viewer. My favourite contemporary directors are Romain Gavras and Canada - they perfectly combine the use of artistic, considered visual imagery with highly engaging, shocking and powerful storytelling with the most unusual twists. People come to me because of my powerful vision, my ability to multi-task and drive a video from start to finish. I self-produce and manage my own post-production, so I can create fantastic content with a really limited team, which is always a bonus and means the work gets done quicker. #WAXCHICK became a billboard story across various global cities; NYC, London, Tel Aviv, St Petersburg. She has been a contributing photographer to various magazines like Dazed, I-D, Vice and Super Super and has been exhibited and held/supported by collections like Saatchi, Art Contemporian in Paris, Barbican, Baltic, Art Naked, Thank You Editions.
