MA Museum cultures and curating. Museum Cultures: Provides the current debates and theoretical approaches within contemporary museum studies. Research-led, it examines numerous aspects of museums including their architecture, collections, display techniques, exhibitions, labelling, events, digital resources, legal resources and audiences. Curating difficult histories: How to represent events that many consider to be unrepresentable crimes against humanity as the prison as heritage site; the display and return of human remains; urban gentrification and the contested heritage of forced removals; iconoclasm and the making and breaking of monuments; creating ‘community’. Queer and black photography: Examine how photography informed and overlapped with new positions in queer and black cultural politics. Also, it explores how, photographers applied the insights of poststructuralist theory to use the medium to create alternative representations of marginalised experience and social movements.
