I remember the first time I realised I wanted to be a graphic designer.
I was watching the film Xanadu.
The main character was a graphic designer whose job it was to recreate, with paint, the great album covers of the day into billboard posters. Painting. Tick. Vinyl records. Tick. I wanted to grow up to be Olivia Newton-John, spending my life in roller boots and sequins.
Roller boots went by the wayside, Olivia NJ is now my occasional karaoke turn, but graphic design and vinyl records stuck.

I have worked in the creative industries for over 30yrs. I've gone from paste-up to computers, but always with the concept coming off the page, with a pen.
Can you remember the first piece of commercial design you did / or commissioned?
The first commercial design I created was a logo for an inter-school logo design competition in Milton Keynes. I can remember it now 'Young Writers in Action'. I still have the logo on a t-shirt somewhere.
I still design, and now I support creative people in business, whether that is an in-house designer or an owner of a creative business.
