- Cubism Inspired HairMy initial inspiration to produce this body of work derived from art movements, specifically Cubism. The later phase, Synthetic Cubism, began in 1912 when artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Juan Gris started adding textures and patterns to their paintings, using simpler shapes and brighter colours. This influenced me to interpret the technique in my own imagery as I have adapted these principles to fit a more contemporary look and feel overall. Working closely with a team of professional hairdressers from McDonald Waterfall, creating avant-garde hairstyles, I wanted to show the use of textures, straight lines and sharp angles as key elements drawn from the theme. I have used a playful twist of colour in the makeup to emphasise the lines and strength in the structure of the face and hair.
