Bachelor of Arts (BA) University of Manchester
Manchester, United Kingdom
English Literature & American Studies Degree.
• A multidisciplinary course: gaining an insight into the interplay of culture, politics and society.
• A focus on various modes: literature, film, music, art and poetry, allowing for a deeper understanding
of how society interacts with culture, and how they mutually shape each other.
• Interaction with a vast range of theories that are wholly relevant in contemporary society. These
include inequality, gender and sexuality, climate change and institutions of power.
• Developing critical analysis skills through unique interpretation of each text, considering relevance to
each separately rather than broad generalisations.
• Strong communication and written English skills: fluid and diverse language style.
• IT skills - Excel. Facilitated by extra services at the University. Formatting and calculating data in
spreadsheets.
• Group work, including presentations and podcasts for my modules. Working in a team, I ensured
that everyone had the right roles suited to their ability, and that everyone was working efficiently to ensure our group targets were met. Although I often took on leadership roles, I allowed room for people to express their input in a comfortable environment.
