About me
I am a Design & Marketing Manager at the Brick Development Association. My role is to ensure clay brick and pavers are recognised as the material of choice by architects, engineers, planners, specifiers, developers, landscapers, builders and property owners by producing the industry's national advertising, campaign in the UK. I am also the founder of the creative behavioural change social enterprise; 'Wakeup Campaign'. Wakeup Campaign Designers Group is a social business that fuses business and design to create and stimulate change within local communities, companies and individuals. I stem from a fine art background, later on i went into graphic design, branding and marketing, working for influential design and entertainment companies in London. I have won various awards such as: O2thinkbig, Unltd, Future Leader from Powerful Media, Future Talent from Striding Out and has recently been appointed to represent the youth around the UK as the ambassador for o2’s think big blueprint sustainability panel. I have a passion for sustainability and social change. I believe we can change the world through the power of design. I really believe in the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson; ‘What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us’, everything around you is created from mans vision’s and dreams, so now we need to WAKEUP and dream of a better future.

  • Everything we do is constructive
Everything we do is constructiveEverything we do is Constructive. The Brick Development Association (BDA), one of the construction industries’ most highly respected trade associations, has launched a new Think Brick marketing campaign promoting brick as the external material of choice for the industry. This year, there are 4 running ad visuals; Battersea Power Station, St Pancras, Layer Marney Tower and the newly built London School of Economics. “The BDA, the body representing UK Brick manufacturers, is responsible for promoting the contribution that brick makes to the places and spaces that people live and work in today”, explains Viviane Williams, Design and Marketing Manager. “Within the campaign the strapline of ‘Everything We Do Is Constructive’ encompasses all the merits of using brick in construction and the important role the BDA plays in communicating the benefits to key decision makers”. Brick has been used to shape the built environment since the beginning of civilisation and has proven itself time and time again as a solid, permanent and low maintenance material that provides lasting beauty and appreciating value. With many elements of past brick buildings still standing today, brick is one of the only truly tried and tested materials known to man. On price it’s hard to beat. On versatility and pure aesthetics few rivals come even close. Moreover it is the most sustainable and durable of building materials that pre dates from 3.5,000 BC. With roots going as far back as 1946, the BDA offers a host of technical and support functions including design advice and a series of lectures and CPD presentations to architectural and engineering practices, as well as lectures at colleges and universities. Information is accessible from the newly re-vamped website www.brick.org.uk allowing building professionals and the public to get the best out of brick, pointing those to UK’s Brick manufacturer’s, design advice, great brick case studies and technical downloads. While the public will be able to understand it, building professionals will find the site an invaluable online resource. The site is an impressive showcase for brick, with inspirational projects from around the world, and pioneering brickwork design and specification. Viviane concludes: “Quite simply, we all love brick and it’s a favourite with architects and developers too. After all, there is a great deal of choice with around 1200 brick types produced in the UK. The targeted advertising campaign runs alongside a dedicated PR programme and the annual Brick Awards event, not to mention direct mail and educational seminars. You will not fail to see the BDA’s dedication and commitment to the brick and construction industry as everything we do in the Brick industry is constructive”.
