Without being frightened to try something new my ease of adapting to new environments is a high. Whilst being happy to work individually, my talent shines through when working in a team. Great interpersonal skills allow me to build, manage and work well with a broad range of people; management, clients and colleagues. This is where my conscientious work ethic allows me to thrive and answer briefs to their fullest.
I believe my organisational skills allow me to manage my time effectively to reach deadlines, and through relentless determination, produce not only aesthetically pleasing outcome, but ones that communicate the messages they intended to properly.
Outside of work I always look to keep creating; setting my own briefs, working on design competitions and providing a freelance design service. I also like to keep fit and play a range of instruments. Relaxed socialising and taking in the cultural environment is an important aspect of life in order to recharge and reinvigorate my creative process.
Projects
- Artwaves Festival - BrandingWhen a local multi-disciplinary arts festival wanted a re-brand, I began to wonder how traditional and digital art could possibly be showcased as one. Basing my concept around a pattern that simplified different arts (painting, dance, computer, spoken) I then chose a mixture of medias to promote to event, such as multi-materialed flyers & totebags.
- Long Word - Poster SeriesWhilst shopping at a local Zine store, I wanted to task myself with concepting an idea for one. This idea was to show the worlds longest words. Figuring a way to make them seem appealing through typography, as oppose to their textbook counterpartners that lose a viewers attention.
- Bea & Beau - Brand & PackagingWhen it comes to design, I find I am quite vibrant with colours. So, this project for a local childerenswear branding was somewhat of a challenge. I wanted to prove to myself that I don't always need to rely on bright colours in order to make a brand stand out. The hand drawn bee and soft typeface, combined with the muted pink and grey, gives this brand a soft caring touch whilst standing out against the competition.
- JustBee - Brand & PackagingWhen venturing to my local consumer shop, I always notice the new drink brands that would appear on the shelves. JustBee caught my attention for all the wrong reasons. A brand and packaging that was so bad it stood out. I gave my interpritation of what I thought the brand and packaging could potentially look like, based upon a bees behaviour my father told me when I was young. Now it stands out for all the right reasons.
- Riverhouse Coffee - BrandingA local gastro truck business decided to venture into the coffee industry in the local area. With the pre-existing Shoot the Bull brand to consider, it was a tall order creating a style that fitted both the industry they were going in to, whilst maintaining the familiar Shoot the Bull feel that was so well known amongst the local community.
