About me
Yasmin Tijani is a recent graduate from The University of Leicester and has been an artist throughout her career. She has entered various art competitions and most recently sold her work and was shortlisted at The Melbourne Festival for Emerging Artists 2017. Her work ranges from tackling the idea of black self-love in the face of Eurocentric standards of beauty, the relationship between body image and confidence as well as more nuanced concepts like commentating on art through the ages. Through a preferred method of oil paints, she has developed her distinct painting style and focuses on abstract and conceptual pieces. After spending a year in The Netherlands on a study abroad placement, she currently resides in London and is a member of The Art Fund and Black British Visual Artists.
