About me
I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Technology in Architecture (Applied Design) from the University of Johannesburg. In the last few months of my studies, I took up a position at Johannesburg-based practice, Counterspace Studio led by Sumayya Vally. During my time with Counterspace, I participated in the design and technical phases of the Serpentine Pavilion 2020/2021, as well as the design development of the Church Square regeneration project in Pretoria and various exhibitions & social media campaigns with the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Johannesburg as well as for the Bernard Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at the City University of New York. I later worked for a start-up called TakeAway Spaces, which aims to provide low-cost alternate housing solutions in South Africa. My most recent involvement has been working as a social media manager and curatorial assistant alongside Dr Huda Tayob and Bongani Kona in a project with the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg, titled ‘The Archive of Forgetfulness.’ Over the past couple of years, I have gained extensive knowledge from each of the practices/projects I worked on and have developed my skills as a designer and copywriter.
