• During an eight week placement, I undertook five independent projects to showcase my editorial skills. The first four were based upon briefs, with the sole focus of writing copy to be used inside greetings cards for those particular occasions. However, the final project required far more creative input and focussed on what I believed to be a gap in the market.
• These were all audience driven projects and involved market research, planning and conception.

• My most recent role revolved around writing and editing copy for both print and digital sources, event coverage and general social media scheduling and back-end website upkeep using a content management system.
• This involved the regular production of social media posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and regular outreach. On a monthly basis, I would put together a spreadsheet of social media analytics including post type, shares and likes to tailor content for the next month. I would also use tools to schedule content.
• My content was mostly written copy for blog articles, social media, events, websites and print, but I have also used design tools to create shareable graphics.
• My employers were consistently impressed with how I adapted my tone and style for different audiences and how I implemented new strategies, which is what won me the Bright Idea Award.

• My degree has given me invaluable research skills and though it was mainly theory based, there were many practical elements too, including completion of the Media Professionals Workshop.
• This year, I completed my dissertation on the topic of mental health representation in pop culture. I chose this topic as I felt that, from a socio-cultural standpoint, there wasn’t enough research on the subject, which is increasingly stigmatised in the media.
• Alongside my studies, I was an active member of the Students’ Union, running in elections twice, being a student mentor and a society leader.
