A client needs logo signage and hence I have been wondering if graphic designers should have a post production knowledge as well?

A client wants the logo to be made out of channel letters with face illuminated. As a designer, should I provide them with a complete file ready to be sent for production, or should I get in touch with the manufacturer and ask for help?

  • @Ana Beatriz Fernandes my first job post college was at a signage company, they had a department that would set up the artwork and work out how many lights etc were needed for each letter. I would chat to the supplier.

    Hope that helps.
  • Hi Simran,

I would get in touch with the manufacturer first. Through my experience it happens that different manufacturers will work with different specs and on top of that they have a lot of technical knowledge on fabrication which is really useful.

    Best of luck!
