Advice for Journalists with not much experience?

I don't have much in the way of professional experience in writing or content making (although I do run a blog..). I'm trying to take steps in the right direction and hopefully have a job in the future where I can write about fashion and current affairs. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get there. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

  • @Lewis Lister this was super helpful, thank you so much. ive never really thought about writing about music but after looking at your site, it actually looks quite good. i’ll think about it, look around a bit, and get back to you. thank you for being so helpful and kind!
  • Find some teeny tiny blogs in your niche and see if you can write for them to build up your portfolio, then you can start pitching to some bigger publishers and start charging $$$.

Appreciate you're looking to go into Fashion Journalism but if you wanted to do something about Fashion + Music I'd be happy to work with you on something for my blog, https://prvnce.com
  • That's not necessarily an obstacle. Check out these organisations; they might have advice, they'll definitely look at pitches from a starter.

Not sure about fashion, definitely not for the Bureau unless you're doing an exposure on sweatshops. But good luck.
