Advice With chowing Webflow plan for client projects

Hey!
I’m new to Webflow and I’m finding the price plan a bit confusing. I will be building websites for multiple clients on Webflow but I am getting confused with which price plan I need.

I don’t need an e-commerce site right now as currently there will be no shop on the website. But what I want to know is if the CMS price plan is the correct plan to use when working an an independent freelancer working with multiple websites for clients.? And am I able to export the code there in a zip file etc? And am I able to have multiple projects on that plan?

Just need to find the quick answer to this as there is so much info and depth to go into I can’t find what I’m looking for.

Thank you! :)

  • @Hayley Jones The first thing to set up is your Workspace. I would begin with the free Starter Workspace and then scale up as you become more confident. Think of the Workspace as the software you need to create your design.

You only need a Site Plan once you have a site that's ready to be published with a custom domain. As you don't have a site to publish I would cancel the CMS Site Plan and ask for a refund.

Webflow University https://university.webflow.com/ is a brilliant (and entertaining : ) resource for learning Webflow and website design. You will find lots of good tutorials here. I recommend the Webflow for Beginners course. The 21 day design portfolio course is also very good, it takes you through the whole process of creating and publishing a site with Webflow.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy creating with Webflow.

    Hey Marc!

Thank you for your reply, this is super helpful!
I am looking to work with multiple clients on web flow, so was looking at the freelancing workspace, but I have just paid for the CMS plan as I thought that was to have a site the if I wanted to freelance, I would add on/upgrade to the freelance plan.

Or can you just independently use the freelancing plan on its own without the cms plan?

I still don’t even understand what CMS is tbh…

    Thanks,
    Hayley
  • Hi Hayley,

If you’re going to be designing and building sites for multiple clients then the Freelancer Workspaces subscription would be the one to choose to begin with. You’re able to export the site code (zip file) of a site that doesn’t use CMS and you can provide 10 clients with a fully functioning preview of your site design on a webflow.io domain.

If you want to host the site on Webflow, which you would have to for a design using the CMS, there is then a range of hosting options. The choice of Site Plan will depend on whether you used the CMS, number of form submissions required and number of content editors who require access.

With Webflow you can scale up or down, so you can move up to the Agency Workspaces subscription or change a hosting Site Plan if required.
    Hope this is helpful.
