Advise from business owners on growing an audience and getting sales for my new hand made wigs store.

I’ve just launched https://www.strandsindemand.com with my sister and we’re finding it hard to get sales. We’ve done some marketing and paid for ads, however we’d like to get advice on how to get sales. We’d appreciate any tips and tricks.

Many thanks

  • Hi Toto,

The website looks luxurious and stylish — good work! :-)

I would explain more about your brand story and community. People trust a brand more, if they can see other people have tried and tested the product. Are you using social media? Can you gather reviews and testimonials? I'd recommend focussing on this "community building" to grow.

Good luck, and I hope Strands In Demand continues to grow and blossom.
  • Hey Toto,

Your website looks great! It comes across really high-end and nice to look at, and your photography is amazing (which is one of the most important things when selling products).

I'd say the main thing you need to do at the moment is get more copy on your website, for two reasons:

    1. To build up trust with potential customers

    2. For good old SEO

If I were you I'd focus on adding to the site:

    • The story behind your brand - Who you and your sister are, and, most importantly, why you do what you do. Share your passions and the story behind your business - people buy people!

    • The benefits your products bring to your clients. People buy benefits over features. For example, a feature of your wigs would be the colour it comes in, such as purple and blue. The benefit of this is a unique fashion statement for people who want to stand out! Benefits tend to be emotion led, which makes a product more desirable and useful to people.

    • Think about building up a bank of blog posts. This is also good for SEO and can be a brilliant way to get some personality across. Some ideas for blog topics might be 'Different Hair Types', 'How to Care for Your Wig' or for new line launches.

Getting loads of SEO keywords into your will help people find your site organically, without having to spend a ton on ads. Without the right keywords on your website Google won't know what your website is about, and therefor won't show it to people when they search for wigs.

I highly recommend checking out Studio Cotton - they are absolute geniuses when it comes to marketing and SEO for creative businesses. Check out their blog in particular - it's an absolute goldmine for this kind of thing: https://studiocotton.co.uk/blog/

    Good luck with everything!
