Any advice on getting represented by an agent/agency? Thanks!

  • Hi Sophie,

To gain an agent, you need to pull a portfolio together and begin submitting it to different agencies. Please bear in mind they receive many portfolios each day. So, how can you stand out? If sending a digital portfolio, keep the file size below 10MB. You can also try traditional snail mail — you'll be more memorable for it.

I'd also prepare yourself for what happens when you get an agent! It can be brilliant to reach new clients. However, the agents do ask for a lot of sample and prospective work (before you even get paid). It can be a lot for small returns. Decide what you're open to doing for the agents before you engage with a contract. Always check any agreements carefully.

    I hope this helps!
