Any advice on how to go on a job hunt without much experience in the arts field?

Being involved with arts has always been my dream. I could not imagine my life without them. I studied theatre and did a MA in Cultural Analysis, however I never got to land a job, aside from some small writing gigs here and there. I have built a very "multidimensional" CV and experience and I am currently working in Digital Product for a Fashion/Tech company, however I can't stop thinking about switching to my own field. How can I do that confidently, when my experience is minimum to almost zero?

  • If you're looking to write, then I'd suggest following on Twitter the commisioning editors of any publications/organisations you'd like to write for, then send in spec pitches when they put the call out (which they've been doing of late). You might need a few samples before they comission your idea... so main advice is get writing.
