Any good recommendations for an intermediate camera?

My entry level camera was a Nikon D3300, and I quite liked it. I then decided to switch up brands to the very popular Sony A7, the only mistake I probably took was buying the first generation mirrorless from 2013. I’ve found it very hard to get high resolution photos with much control on the focus. The lens probably doesn’t help too, but I’m worried to start investing in more lenses when really I should be changing the body?
Any suggestions welcome !

  • If wanted to stick with the same system, I’ve found Sony A7iii to be a great camera in the Alpha series. It’s a really big improvement, even when compared with the A7ii.
You could see how you get on with it with your current lens. Then, if you find you still want to make it more of an improvement, you could get yourself a secondhand copy of a lens like the 55mm 1.8 lens. I absolutely loved that lens when I was a Sony shooter, and used it probably 90% of the time, it’s so damn sharp.
All in all I’d say it’s better to do these things in stages rather than feel like you have to drop a tonne of money on a whole new set of equipment :)
