Any tips on how to apply for kit room assistant on camera equipment rental houses ?

I have no previous experience but I found out that it's a good way to make connections and get first hand experience with camera equipment. But I just want to make a good impression and have no idea what people would like to see in a cold email. Any help would be appreciated thank you:)

  • Has anyone else utilized the career counseling services offered by the North York Job Agency? I was pleasantly surprised by their comprehensive approach to career development. They https://jobssite.ca/contact-job-agency-north-york/ provided personalized advice on networking, interview techniques, and even offered workshops on professional development. My experience with them has been invaluable, and I feel more confident in my job search efforts. If you're looking to enhance your career prospects, I suggest giving them a try.
  • I would make a list of every camerahouse in London and contact them. Tell them you are looking for work. Be honest about which equipment you're knowlegable about and how you hope to expand that knowledge, you're good with people and attention to detial. etc. Wait about 2 weeks and follow up with them.
  • @John Mouratis they probably want to know what cameras you are familiar with and about your experience in the camera department so emphasize that. A list of kit you know would be helpful to include and mention that you're a quick learner and that you'd be happy to familiarize yourself with other camera systems. You should mention you're tidy and organized, that's very important in kit rooms. Any kind of jobs you've had where you had to organize something or do logistics involving equipment, anything that would emphasize those skills would be good.
  • @Anca Badita thank you Anca :) do you have any knowledge about specific skills that they are looking for ? I want to customize my CV specificly for those jobs and want to have a better idea about my approach
  • They may not always list their vacancies on their websites. I would recommend calling them and asking if they're hiring and even if they say no, ask if you can email your CV in case anything comes up. Maybe, if you can afford it, offer to do a one week work experience in their kit room if they want to meet you and test you out.
