Anyone got any tips on picking up some clients as a freelance Graphic Designer?

  • @Luke Cowburn to be honest, I'm not sure you will be able to drive a tone of traffic to your site. That would take a lot of SEO work and then I'm not sure how many people really go and search for designers via Google (Google has a keyword tool that shows you how many searches certain words generate. You could check it our for Graphic Designer). However, I believe it's down to networking and handing out your website address for people to peruse. Put it on your social media, get business cards and hand them out etc.

  • @Ina Arens Thanks for the feedback Ina!
My main question would be, after setting up a good online portfolio/website (since I have the work there to make that possible already) what is the best way to drive traffic towards this and get noticed by people who are looking for freelancers when starting from the bottom?

  • I agree with Giovanni - have a website ready that shows your work and your style and then basically tell everyone you know and meet what you do. Network network network.
  • @Giovanni Garlaschini Hi Giovanni,

Thanks for your advice! I will make sure to take it all on board!
  • HI Luke,
My advice is to make you a very functional website portfolio, rich in contents, that says what you do and more projects because that’s what costumers are interested in, they need to see what you can do.
I’ve worked for famous brands and everyone found me like that, thanks to my website.

    Good luck!
    Giovanni
