Anyone have advice for trying to get a new job, but always getting to the same stage in the application process and not advancing?
I've been getting the same feedback. They liked me and my work, they feel like I would've fit in but someone else had a little bit more experience or a different skill they didn't even realise they were looking for. I've been doing some freelance, trying to grow my skillset but in my current role I'm not growing or learning anything new and I'm worried about not reaching my potential.

- I wrote a huge ass response and it didnt submit haha :/Well, it's really upsetting for that to happen in a row..I suppose I send so much cvs all over that once one does not answer or does not select me to attend an interview, I'm just so busy on the look out that honestly? i dont care. hahaI would only care if I liked so much the place, the work, location and studio that I tailored an email properly for them.. But then I suppose I would try to engage on a conversation to try to find out why I wasnt selected (feedback is always good, unless the email already contains the explanation of course). But hey, keep on enrolling to so many places that you'll keep busy and not caring for the turn downs! Something good will come along <3And try to find agencies and studios that match at least 80% with your portfolio, that helps a LOT.Cheers Jordan!
- i had much of that so i just worked more on my own personal projects developed more of what kind of work i want to be making and aspire to work in those industries. just means that im then able to tailor my portfolio more towards that role so hopefully each time i make something its one step towards it. its slow and can take a while but i feel the 1%'s add up
- Hi Karen,Thanks so much for your response, I really appreciate it.That's such a good idea! I'll definitely try that. Can I ask, what do you do if you feel like you're getting a lot of rejections one after another? Like how do you keep going with applications?
- Hey Jordan!Hmm I see what you mean, I reached that stage a while back too.. I really wanted a designer role at a really cool studio in my city, they called me in, liked my portfolio and all, but I lacked websites apparently. So I started to do this:at the end of the interview, if I notice they sense a lack of a specific project, idk, keyvisuals (which is what they need at the moment due to high demand of it) I'd ask for a bit of time that I can come up with a special project for them.So I'd sit down and think of what I can design and send straight to the person who interviewed me. Of course they might not like the project, but at least I insisted on it and showed attitude to get the role..Hope it helps!! :DAnd good luck with your search, I know you'll find something coolCheers!
