Anyone who works with translation for the creative industry around? I need to charge for a freelance gig but have no ideia what's reasonable

  • It's probably a bit late now, but it would vary according to your language combination. If it's actually transcreation rather than straight translation, I'd guess that an hourly rate would be the best idea, because a word count probably wouldn't reflect the work which has gone into it. I can't really give any more advice without further information about the job, what country the client is based in and what currency you're charging in.
  • It depends on the task but I've always charged on a per hour basis for my translations. For the work I did in Denmark I charged 140 DKK; almost 19 euros an hour at the going exchange rate.
