Could anybody give me a decent ballpark figure for what you could expect to pay a digital artists who specialises in projection mapping?

I understand there will be huge leaps in regards to price vs experience but any suggestions would be great? Based on a 1 month installation, 3 month comission, year long comission.

    From my previous experience costs largely depends on the type of projection mapping and what you want the artists to produce

    Architectural Exterior Mapping can be expensive if you're developing 1 / 2 minute animations for these, whereas object video mapping on items such as walls, or features is normally at the other end of the scale

    And inbetween there is full interior project mapping, which can also be expensive, although not always technically possible if you want to map a complete interior.

    Assuming you have the necessary equipment in places for your projections, your costs are going to vary quite wildly, as it will come down to what are the deliverables, how will the work be used (which you already know), and do you want the freedom to use the work elsewhere.
