#feedback E-Book Design In Canva For a Travel Blogger

This project was a nice change from designing E-Books for food bloggers. 🙂

Taking part in this type of project was an amazing experience. I have experience managing social media accounts for travel bloggers, and that helped me a lot with this project.
My role on this project was to design a layout that would convey visually what my client wanted to share in her travel guide.

The E-Book needed to be clean and minimalistic, following the client's brand guidelines.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

  • It's exactly the result I would expect from Canva, frankly.

But the biggest issue here is a complete lack of structure to the typesetting. Yes, we're only seeing two spreads, but the way the text interacts with images feels unbalanced and it doesn't feel like much consideration has been given to how to lay out the images in a way that doesn't interfere with the text.

In typesetting, even in image-heavy books, readability is the priority. In fact, it becomes even more important in image-heavy books. Okay, you may have been hampered by brand guidelines (someone writing about free things to do on Holiday isn't about to shell out for a meaningful brand) that meant type choices were limited - though there should have been a discussion about that - but the structure, the consideration of the page, it's just no there unfortunately.
